Synopsis:
The film records the colorful life of Chinese senior citizens. In China the female retires at the age of 50, while the male does at 55. It sounds unbelievable for the Americans to leave their job at this age, considering the quality of life and living together with the young.
The schedule of Tong Chunhui and Xu Lijuan is full everyday, ranging from senior school, family party to recreation activities at neighboring park, even though they are both above 80; Zhu Tingjia, an aged fashionmonger, is fond of dancing and motorcycling. Following the aged people, we see their difference in various background and hobbies but the same vigor.
Profile of the Director:
Christine Choy, Professor of Film Studies at the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and Director. Christine has produced and directed about seventy works in various forms, receiving over sixty international awards. Among them are numerous fellowships such as the John Simon Guggenheim, the Rochfeller, and the Asian Culture Council, as well as an Academy Award Nomination for the documentary film, Who Killed Vincent Chen. Christine has an equally impressive history as an educator. She will be spending the academic year as a visiting professor from NYU in Shanghai.
