The rhinopithechs bieti is a rare species only found in China and was first discovered by French zoologist Milne-Edwards along the border of Yuannan and Tibet in 1897. In the following century it increasingly aroused interests from both home and abroad but nobody has ever approached them so closely like this time. The real life and habitats of the rhinopithechs bieti has been thus exposed to the ordinary audiences for the first time thanks to the three years' great endeavors of the scientists and camera crew.

The crested ibis, used to abound in China, Japan, Korea and South Siberia, has become an international protected rare bird today due to many reasons. There were merely five domesticated crested ibis in Japan by 1981 and the wild crested ibis were thought to have been extinct. After three years' scientific research and traveling 50 thousands kilometers, Professor Liu Ying of the Chinese Academy of Sciences identified seven wild crested ibis in Yang Xian County of Shanxi Province in March 1981. Ever since then the life of this unique bird has entered a new phase…
4. The Takins of Qinling Mountains
The takin is a protected animal of first-class level, and among the four different subspecies of takins, the one living in Qinling Mountains is the most noticeable. Explorers and ordinary people have long been curious about these animals and their way of life. The production team enters deep into the vast mountain to look for takins, and the documentary shows the close relationship between the animals and the natural environment and their living habits in different seasons.
5. Przewalski's Gazelles
Przewalski's gazelles live in the area of Qinghai Lake and there are less than 300 left in the world today. The documentary records the living situation of the endangered gazelles and unveils many of the mysteries surrounding their origins, their habitat and living habits, while also focusing on their protection and discussing the wider problems concerning biodiversity around Qinghai Lake and the overall environment of the Qinghai Lake Nature Reserve, from which, the major question is how can the human beings create the right living and breeding conditions for endangered animals.
6. The Wild Donkeys of Kalamaili
The Kalamaili Natural Reserve located in the north of Xinjiang is the largest for wild Mongolian donkeys, covering an area of about 18,000 square km, where the hot, arid and inclement environment allows only few species to live and where there are only rare traces of human beings. The wild donkey is one animal that can live in the desert, wandering on the scorching plain in search of sparse food. This documentary records the real living situation of the wild donkeys in Kalamaili.
7. Approaching the Source of Three Rivers
The Yangtze, Yellow and LangcanjiangRivers, known as the mother rivers of the Chinese nation, all have their sources found in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province. Yushu exercises jurisdiction over the Hoh Xil, a no-man area in the northwest, and has vast expanse of marshland, wetland and mountainous forests in the southeast. Complicated landforms create biological diversity, and are home to Tibetan antelopes, wild yaks and wild Tibetan donkeys, known as the three treasures of the plateau. This part of the world is also where the source of many large rivers lies. The source of the three rivers is also known as the “water tower of China”.
This play shows objectively efforts made to protect wildlife and eco-environment in the area.
