The story begins with the reunion of seven friends:
Shang Xiaoyi, a white collar, with her boyfriend Bai Kaiwen, a DJ gets the marriage license not telling their parents, and they move to the room 505 in a flat. Zheng Nan, a model, with her twin brother Zheng Bei, a cameraman lives in the room 506 facing to room 505. They lost their mother when they were very young and they depend on the financial support from their well-off father to live here.
One day Yi Dan, Zheng Nan and Zheng Bei's classmate happens to lose her job as a marketing manager and she takes it for granted to move to the room 506. Kaiwen's university classmate Li Fan, an engineer goes through frustration in both work and love and he comes to the metropolis to search for a chance to succeed. However Zheng Bei asks him to move to the room 506 because he is a master-hand in playing computer games.
"Abu Water Bar" downstairs becomes a suitable place for relaxing. After several times, they are acquainted with Abu and become good friends.
From then on the seven people form a small community. They start from the same level, struggling for their own passion, love and friendship, in a word, for a happy life. Compared with the big society, there are also complex affection stories in the small community.
Xiaoyi and Kaiwen overcome incessant troubles to manage their family while a series of troubles occur due to the marriage license not known by their parents. What annoys Xiaofan is that Kaiwen is so popular in other woman, and even Zheng Nan seems to have favor with him. Kaiwen does not like to be so closely watched. "There is a pressure, there is a way to release", that is Kaiwen's philosophy.
There are always many men around Zheng Nan, but Zheng Nan only has feeling to Li Fan. However, Li Fan is determined to wait for his girlfriend going abroad back and does not accept Zheng Nan’s affection. Zheng Nan is desperate and decides to give up him. Nevertheless Li Fan has no feeling to his girlfriend and loves Zheng Nan gradually. It is hard for him to confess his love to Zheng Nan.
Yi Dan looks for a job here and there and she also forces others to accompany her to have an interview. It happens that Li Fan gets recruited. Yi Dan calls herself a senior and always tells others what they should. As a result, everyone has awe on her. Abu, boss of the "Water Bar" has loved Yi Dan secretly for a long time. Yi Dan also knows his affection, but she does not have feeling to Abu at all and she gives Abu little chance. Zheng Bei misunderstands that Yi Dan likes him, so he flatters Yi Dan excitedly. As a result Yi Dan tells him that she wants to be a successful lady first.
As the only child in the family, although Li Fan and Zheng Bei become roommates, they soon find out that they do not learn "share and modest" well and much conflict occurs. Can their friendship pass the test? Maybe the only child deeply understands the saying that "Parents can be depended on home but outside friends are also the most important".
The first season ends with the great wedding between Xiaoyi and Kaiwen, Li Fan's confession to Zheng Nan and Yi Dan's satisfactory job as well as Zheng Bei's flourishing photography career. Is everything perfect? However after the romance, how should Xiaoyi and Kaiwen face the boring marriage life? If Li Fan's girlfriend returns to homeland and comes to look for him, how should Zheng Nan do? Can Yi Dan accept Zheng Bei,s favor to her? What should Zheng Nan and Zheng Bei do with their father's marriage?
