The movie War Flame takes the year 1944 as a background, when China is in the war period of anti-Japan. During a fierce battle, the captain of Kuomintang Xue Youfang (acted by Zhang Hanyu) is badly injured and sent to the hospital. Here he meets Du Jingxuan, a 14 years old girl. She together with her little brother flees from a calamity and comes here. She stays at a church. She quickly gets matured after losing her parents and she protects herself by lies and apathy.

Facing the Xue Youfang in coma everyday, Du Jingxuan becomes tender as a young girl is. She is attracted by Xue Youfang and stars to look after him carefully. She is more active than the nurse Xiulan in the aspect of taking care of Xue Youfang in spite of the great trouble she makes. She treats everyone with her lies. She deceives the honest and sincere and the confused Xue Youfang. As a result, she is published by the supervisor Maria.

Xue Youfang does not know all the things Du Jingxuan does. When he comes around, what he only sees is a lovely girl. The girl, weird and poor, involves in his life and brings him joy as well as trouble.

The enemy comes so quickly that Xue Youfang has to go back to the front line. Although Du Jingxuan is not pleased with his leave, she can not stop it in such turmoil of war period. Xue Youfang takes a photo with Du Jingxuan before he leaves.

Xue Youfang leaves but the Japanese soldiers come. Du Jingxuan helps Maria to take the children fleeing from the war in the church. However, she suddenly finds that her younger brother is lost one day. She will spend the terrible war days by herself…
